Swatchy cards and other bits.

Oh Felted Tweed and Kidsilk Haze, how I love thee! A big thank you to Sarah W., one of my venerated yarn swap buddies, for sending over this batch of Rowan Felted Tweed and Kidsilk Haze so that yours truly can knit a frilly Elfin cardi from the latest Rowan mag. I owe Sarah a double thank you, as she is the one who came up with the color combo for me. The pattern calls for Felted Tweed in "Dragon" and Kidsilk Haze in "Drab", but as the cardi featured in the mag looks brownish-gray I was shocked to learn that "Dragon" and "Drab" are actually shades of green. [Shoulda guessed from the mere name of "Dragon", I know. Anyway.] I only wear dark green when I want to look sallow, so Sarah picked out the fab colors of Cocoa and Majestic. Now I can't wait to knit the frilly cardi up and find a meadow to run through while wearing it. XOXOXO to Sarah!

Doing this kind of stuff makes me feel so CRAFTY.
Send a staple gun.

Speaking of Rowan, I saw an idea for using swatches on greeting cards in one of my Rowan books, and decided to make one to send to my grandmother. I knit a swatch using Rowan Cotton Glace and a heart lace stitch from Vogue Knitting, blocked it, and pasted it onto a piece of cardboard using rubber glue. Then I glued the cardboard onto a sturdy blank folding card. It holds up nicely and looks pretty nifty, too. Good way to use up leftovers.
