Yep. Still a-yokin'.

On my Cat in the Hat sweater, that is. I've still got it on the circ and need to go round and round a bit more because I ripped out a few rounds as I modified the pattern slightly in order to i) suit my row gauge and ii) end with my red and white stripes the way I want. So round and round we go and it may be the last time, I donít know, and oh by gosh and oh by Joe. You'd think I'd have enough of square dancing by now, eh? Well, I have but Cat in the Hat sweater obviously hasn't.

In the meantime I consider some design possibilities for my fabric stash.

About one meter of lightweight embroidered linen.
The drawings to the right are mine.

After contemplating my drawings I've decided on a skirt. Unfinished edges; something that compliments the rough string embroidery on the linen. I'll play around with some muslin and see what comes up before I cut into the fabric.

P.S. The bi-yearly sale for summer - LES SOLDES - just started this morning in Lyon. I took a break from school with a girl in my class and we went shopping downtown. I brought home this pair of sandals. New shooooooooooz! On sale, of course. I love me a bargain.

Sale + new shoes = heaven!
Now I'm singing Spandau Ballet "Round and round it goes, and oh don't you know..." Love the linen!
I would have voted for the skirt too. Had there been voting, mind you. ;) Cute shoes!
all this red stripey navyness has made me crazy for... bandanas....I'm coo coo for bandanas...you fashionista design guru...how does one whip out the bandanas for the hair? nice shooz! :)
ooh I love the skirt...show them gams girlie!
I'm always fascinated by the sale cycles and regulations in many European countries. Although, it makes me think that these are real sales, as opposed to the weekly sales and events that are held in American dept. stores.
That embroidery fabric is loverly... but doesn't look too good with those square dancing outfits. When ya gonna design one of them, now huh? Love the skirt you ARE going to design, though!
Woot! Woot! Bargains rock! Can't wait to see what you product with that material!
Ooh, I love linen, and that's just my favourite green! Can't wait to see what you'll pull off this time ;-)
Pretty sandals! I can't wait to see what you do with the linen too. I'm new here but I'm thinking you are studying design, from the drawings you did? They are really cool!
Nice shoes!!!
Oh, I love, love, love that fabric! Gorgeous. And the shoes! Yum.
OOooOOOoooOo..that linen is so pretty!
That's a very lovely piece of linen fabric! Love it!
I like both designs, the skirt will be very cute with that linen. And the shoes, so cute!
I love the shoes! Cute! Cute! Cute!
What beautiful fabric! My lucky hubby is in Paris right now...does this mean he should shop for me? ;-)
I love shoes! Shoe shopping is my fav!! The fabric is delish as well.
I love that I get to show my new shoes here. It's like talking about them with a group of girlfriends who understand the wonderfulness of FAB SHOOZ ON SALE.
Ooh, pretty new shoes. Love that linen--looks like you can have fun with that--maybe some elastic threads for fun gathers?
Those shoes are badass!!
I so love new shoes. New clothes too. But shoes hold a special place in my heart.
Oooh, new shoes - very pretty. Hmm, I must! experience that French phenomena, les soldes. Maybe plan the next trip during one? Hmm, Do you have extra good access to fabrics since you are in Lyon (which I have heard is a great textile area)? The linen is lovely - I love olive.
I can see the end is near and the suspense is killing me!... Love the embroidered linen fabric!
Those designs/sketches are fantastic. I love seeing the whole design cycle from sketches to garment, but I especially love it when we're privvy to designer's insights. Like your comment on the unfinished edges suiting the fabric - of course! Sounds obvious when you say it. Can't wait to see the finished product.

the linen is lovely, and so are the shoes! nice drawings, you designer, you.
Those sandals are Cuuute. Did you sit right down on a park bench and put them on--just like I did with my snazzy boots the last time was I was Lyon?
Great fabric.. can hardly wait to see the finished product.
Oooh, cool sandals! Love those big flowers! Funny about flowers, my Mom sent me an email with a picture of bouquets of chrysanthemums arranged to look like little dogs -- they look like your little pooch!
Love this fabric. It reminds me of a Per Una skirt I've got, in a similar fabric, with rough applique flowers, and an unfinished hem. Very boho.
Tres cute shoes! And the linen? Oooh la la! The skirt will be gorgeous.
