Brooch and Big Ball Swatch.

Marlena asked me if the flower shown on the capelet is one that I made. Why yes, it is! These brooches are my own design, crafted and hand-stitched using needle and thread and no glue whatsoever. Each is one-of-a-kind. I sell them locally but every once in a while one will pop up in my online shops. (I am eternally grateful to the people and retailers who respect independent artists and our creativity by purchasing our work instead of copying it and/or mass-marketing it.)

The story of the Big Ball continues. I did see it swatched in the shop, but Marnie mentioned that she'd like to see it swatched so I went ahead and swatched it:

The main color is mostly cream, and I love the subtleness of the gray and beige. They blend so well that they go almost unnoticed. The shots of black add a little edge. The yarn is acrylic and it feels like it when I knit it, but the fact that it won't pill and those shots of black make everything just right :-)

What's a little acrylic now and then between friends? I love the black contrast - it really "wakes" you up. I second the request for wacky dancing shots. ======================================= Note by Becky: Oh, dear. I'd better oil my joints! I may be a bit rusty...it's been a while since I've made some of those whack dance moves!
I love the brooch! ======================================= Note by Becky: Thank you, Jennifer!
The colours of the Big Ball swatch look like birch bark. Of course the bulkiness of the yarn takes away that smooth bark look. Very nice. I has been a while since your last whack dance photo shoot. How about a little tango with the poncho? ======================================= Note by Becky: Tango. Hee hee! That's so exotic. If I'm in need of blog fodder, I just may do that. (You'll have to sing a fancy tango song, you know that, right?)
Oooh, it looks so nice! It makes me think of an artist's sketch, just little wisps of lines and colors.
The brooches are a nice finishing touch, and very cute. And I'll whisper this now... I think acrylic has a place in the world... it just needs the right person to give it a little love! Nice to see you blogging.
It's so good to see you posting again! I'm so sorry about Lucy. That's really hard.
Neat idea with the brooch. It adds a nice touch to the pncho.
The flower is lovely! And you know, we are very starved on wacky dancing shots!
Big ball Becky! Maybe we can get that new nickname to stick. Who is that very grown up young man holding said big ball? Certainly not lil Captain Destructo? ======================================= Note by Becky: "Big Ball Becky". OMG...Silvia ALWAYS manages to make me laugh out loud :-D
Becky, so glad to see you back!!! Looking forward to seeing what fabulous craftiness you are getting up to....
Glad to see you're still knitting! The poncho is adorable--perfectly proportioned.
Nice to see you 'round these parts. It's exciting to see you creating!
Hi Becky, It is so good to see you online. I was sorry to learn about Lucy. Hi to Capt. and Hubby. In terms of balls, as every woman ages she grows a few more . . .
It's good to see you blogging again plus the knitting. Although the fashion stuff is fascinating. I'm intrigued to see what you can do with that mass of yarn...
Hi Becky, I've been away for a while and I just read about Lucy. I'm really sorry. I just lost Boo and couldn't even write about it on the blog. On a brighter note,I second sil, Captain Destructo is looking so tall dark and handsome! I also love the creamy-beige-grey combo. Very parisien :)
Hi. Love the flower brooch! I've missed reading about your amazing craftiness. Glad to see you back.
