The kid in the knits.

Here they are - the bulky vest and the hat/scarf (which was finished just in time; it snowed today!) I recently made for my son. The bulky vest was knit together with Kerrie, who did hers for her little girl in the same yarn but in a different color (check it out here), and the hat/scarf was knit together with Alison from the blue blog, who did two of them for her twin boys in a different yarn and in another colorway with enviable results (check them out here). For the bulky vest, I used an alternate loop cast-on to emphasize the bumpy yarn, slipped the first stitches on each row after the armhole shaping, sewed the shoulders together using three-needle bind-off, and used a decrease bind-off for the neckline, twisting the stitches to avoid holes. (And yes, my kid's a clown. Taking photos is a little party for him so he tends to ham it up as soon as he sees me pull out the camera.)

I really had fun knitting these projects together with some online pals. I'm looking forward to doing it again!

How cute! I love that hat and scarf set and the vest looks just as good as I knew it would. Out of interest - how much yarn did you use out of the 3rd skein?

Cutearama!

Oh, they are fabulous (and so is your son, of course)! The colors on the hat/scarf are beautiful. I wish I had had the patience to knit mine with the proper yarn. That vest is also terribly cute. That one is all about using the right yarn (and your perfect finishing touches, of course)!

I enjoyed knitting the hat/scarf with you and watching you and Kerrie knit the vests. We'll have to do it again sometime soon!

He is just too cute! He looks so cozy in hat/scarf and vest--they came out great. Belated Happy New Year!

Very stylish . Cool dancing ;-] .

he is very pleased w/ the stuff his momma knits him, isn't he!! :)

what a great smile. he's going to be trouble with the girls! (and he'll be thinking "unless you can knit like my mom, no chance!")

Talk about your virtual knitting circles...

Lovely scarf/vest. Happy New Year!

Thanks for such kind comments, everyone :-)

Kerrie, I used quite a lot of the third skein; I have about 3/4 left. I really elongated the vest - you know how tall J.D. is for his age.

Join our virtual knitting circle, Janet. It's the Wave of the Future :-)

I love the hat/scarf combo, my brothers Fiance gave me a pattern book with that in it for Christmas and it was the first thing I decided I would do.
